In my most recent multi-media sculptures I deal with the idea of space, what gives it its authority, and how it becomes personified and gendered. The space, the physical presence of a church is mystifying to me, it is liminal and has multiple functions. The physical space of a church is ritually used in celebrations of life, unity and death and the emotional space of a church changes with ease to accommodate all of those events. I am concerned with the liminal quality of such a potent space and find a similar notion within the domestic setting as well. I work with video loops played on televisions and appropriated imagery from television shows that have been uploaded onto Youtube. I use televisions to highlight their personified quality within domestic setting and to also highlight the reciprocal power that they had on evangelical faith, drawing a number of ministers to preach within its confines.
